Hugh de Payens (1070-1136) was the founder of the Templar Order. A man of uncertain background, Hugh laid the groundwork for the future might of the Templar Order. A vision he experienced at his deathbed was likely a factor contributing to the Templar decision to establish a new order - especially after its veracity was confirmed with the discovery of grailstone at Wick and Constantinople.[1]
